The farm
The farm lands surround the town of Castellina in Chianti and have an extension of 200 hectares.
15 hectares are planted with olive groves, 35 with vineyards and another 8 hectares of high-density vineyard are in Poggio alla Buca locality, in the Tuscan Maremma.
The range of products includes the designations of origin Toscana IGT, Maremma Toscana DOC, Chianti Classico DOCG and there is no shortage of traditional Vinsanto, Occhio di Pernice DOC, grappa, extra virgin olive oil and the precious Chianti Classico DOP oil.
Since 2008, our viticulture has been carried out according to the organic method, which excludes the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides harmful for the environment and human health, to invest energy in caring for the vine and produce high quality grapes, in limited quantities. The additions in winemaking are limited, no oenological products of animal origin are used and from the 2020 vintage the company certifies organic its wines.
The techniques followed in the cellar enhance the varietal characteristics, to obtain products that express the Chianti terroir, or that differ for an original style.
The production of wines without adding sulphites, from dried grapes or from late harvest, the vinification in amphora, prolonged macerations and sparkling winemaking, are the result of years of experience, studies and experiments.
Offering original wines is important for Tommaso Bojola, owner of the company, who passed on the same requirement to his son Cosimo, oenologist and enthusiast of special winemaking techniques. The bottles of Tenute Squarcialupi are told by the imaginative labels designed by hand by Cosimo: characters that reflect the style of the product and seem to come out of a fairy tale.
